For almost 40 years Medel has been designing and manufacturing nebulizer
systems for aerosol therapy and other home healthcare devices. Medel was born in
1966, an age of hesitation and uncertainties in the medical world; in that
period doctors were skeptic about the effectiveness of aerosol therapy and only
a few drugs were available for inhalation. The founder Giancarlo Attolini, did
believe in the potential of aerosol therapy and was confident in the possibility
of manufacturing simple and low-cost devices suitable for all patients, at home.
Giancarlo Attolini is still the President of the company, joined by his son
Emilio (CEO) and the support of a modern managerial structure. Nowadays Medel
employees about 150 persons. Medel mission, “…for your health”, means that
company is fully dedicated to improve the health of people throughout the world,
with innovation and technology. Medel quality has been recognized year by year:
in 1994 Medel was the first European company to achieve the Japanese JQA
certification for Medical Devices; in 1998, company was certified by ISO9002 and
EN46002; in 2001, ISO9001 certification and EN13485 were achieved. Medel is
driven by Research and Development, which works with the medical community world
and several pharmaceutical companies. Several milestone in the nebulizer history
were set by Medel: latest was in year 2000, when R&D efforts materialized in
the development of a unique and patented technology that considerably reduced
the size of nebulizer systems, now the size of a modern camera, battery
operated. This technology has made life of millions of asthma patients worldwide
an easier and a better one. Today Medel products are distributed in the best
pharmacies and medical shops worldwide: more than 60% of sales are made abroad,
in more than 70 countries, from U.S. to Middle East, from Europe to Japan. Medel
is not only nebulizer systems for aerosol therapy: diagnostic devices (blood
pressure monitors and thermometers); suction (surgical and breast pump); fitness
(heart rate monitors, electro-stimulators); baby care products (Mebby line) have
